Items of interest for FM1

For everyone preparing for FM1, a few items that may be of interest:

We will be meeting in room F1 on Level 0 (Yellow) of the convention center [https://astronomy2018.univie.ac.at/programme/floor-plans/]. The poster session will be in the hallway just outside our room. Posters for FM1 are allowed to be up 28-31 Aug. We has two formal poster sessions scheduled during our meeting time, the afternoon of Tues 28 Aug. There is also a GA-wide poster session on Thursday 30 Aug. For any presenters still around, feel free to use this time to discuss your posters as well.

For those with talks, contributed talks have been given a 10 min slot (8 mins of presentation plus 2 for questions) and invited talks have been given a 20 min slot (17 mins of presentation plus 3 for questions). Please make sure you do not run over your allotted time so that we do not get off-schedule.

I have recently been informed that the computers at the IAU GA *cannot* handle keynote format talks. Please save your talk in ppt/pptx format before arriving to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Proceedings: IAU will publish the proceedings from our meeting in a special issue of Astronomy in Focus. We have an allocation of 40 pages for the printed volume, but can exceed that for the online proceedings. Latex templates for proceedings can be found here [https://www.iau.org/publications/proceedings_rules/]. For an initial guidance, please assume that invited talks will have a 2 page allocation, while contributed talks and posters a 1 page allocation. If you would like to include a longer description of your presentation, noting online-only portions will help the SOC decide which part of your contribution to send for print publication. The IAU is asking for manuscripts to be sent to the FM SOC by the end of September, so please try to meet that deadline, or inform me if you will be contributing but need more time.
